Seminar ScheduleResponsible Gambling – Working Upstream (Prevention, Protection, Promotion)Monday, May 12th 2008 Wesley Conference Centre, 220 Pitt St, Sydney Seminar Aims: • To launch Responsible Gambling Awareness Week 2008 in the State capital of Sydney • To engage with the community and major stakeholders in the promotion of responsible gambling and developing skills in health promotion and early intervention A one day public seminar to launch Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW). Hon. Graham West, Minister Gaming & Racing, to open the week. Seminar will include a range of guest speakers drawing upon experiences and work in the field of health promotion and gambling including: Academics, government dept. staff e.g. health, Dept Justice (Vic), RGF, those working in the field of PG, consumer reps. etc. Presentations to include: Theoretical frameworks for population health approaches – e.g. Victoria, consumer projects eg Spokes people project & industry initiatives e.g.: player information (AGMMA) & technological protection models e.g. smart technology/player tracking. Plus innovative examples from practitioners. The day will be open to the general public but is also targeted to those working in the field of problem gambling, consumers affected by PG, community workers and policy makers in the field . This year we hope to broaden our target groups including Local government, more representation from the gambling industry and possibly more general public.
