Periodic checking on feelings and emotions

Giving in - When the stress of urges hit you and you have nowhere to go, do you easily give in to the feelings of worry?
Apprehensiveness - Does fear play a role with your unresolved problems giving you troubles with focusing?
Mistrust - Are you still worried about being truthful to some members of your family and not trusting them fully?
Boredom - How are you handling boredom at this stage of your recovery and is it still hard for you to overcome?
Loneliness - Even though you are in recovery, do you still feel as though you are alone and that no one understands?
Insecurity - How secure do you feel about all these emotions within you to keep going towards to goal of recovery?
Necessity - Do you still feel that gambling is the only way, or necessary to get you out of your financial problem?
Grumpiness - Do you still feel anger with yourself and everyone around you for what happened to you with gambling?

They may seem like some heavy burdens to overcome, but they are all a part of gambling recovery and feelings/emotions anyone either went through or are still going through. Working on the weak points, one by one, until such time when they feel comfortable, is the key to recovery. Reaching out to someone in these moments shouldn't be considered embarrassing or thinking that it's a failure of some sort, but rather opening up and recognizing those very emotions that are putting the brakes on recovery. Talking to anyone about these emotions - either in support groups such as GA, group therapy meetings, counselor, church leader, a trusting friend or a family member can be of tremendous help to continue with healthy recovery.
