Support Services
Getting help for a gambling related problem is often the first step towards change. Many people struggle in silence for years with this difficulty. Sometimes this is because they may be too ashamed to seek help or perhaps unaware where to go. Sometimes family or friends may not be sure that there really is a problem, but are curious and just need to know what to look for. There may be many un-answered questions and concerns and it can feel that you are alone with this problem. It is important to recognise that no matter whether, family, friends or person struggling with a gambling difficulty, your questions are important and can be answered. GIS (NSW) Inc. through this website is endeavouring to inform people about services which may help. Currently the Casino Community Benefit Fund provides grants to a number of community and health organisations to deliver a range of counselling and treatment services across the State. Many of these are listed here, but you can call the State 24 hr hotline (G-line 1800 633 635) for further details of services in your own locality. In addition there are a number of self–help organisations, self-help websites and other resources, which can assist those affected by problem gambling. GIS (NSW) Inc. also has a library of resources and can assist with enquires. You are welcome to contact us. Please let us know whether the information on this page was useful.
